Based on our trusted XL-Classic Platform, the Solarracing Edition provides both efficiency and handling improvements specifically aimed at highly efficient cars in endurance racing.

Some additional features include:

  • Out of the box compatibility with Prohelion Wavesculptor22 CAN-bus protocol (drop in replacement)
  • Isolation between the CAN-bus interface and high-voltage side
  • An optional integrated HV to 12V DC/DC converter (such that the controller doesn't need external power supply)
  • A dedicated fan output with adaptable fan profile
  • And as in all VESC® based controllers, a lot of tuning options like
    • FOC starting from zero RPM (no six-step)
    • Adaptable switching frequency
    • Multiple different sensorless observers options
    • Programmable via USB-C, no need for a CAN-Ethernet bridge
    • Support for a variety of encoders
    • Direct-connection Hall-sensor or encoder support, no need for motor interface boards
    • Option to run custom scripts on the controller (adjust CAN-messages to your liking)
  • Full transparency on efficiency (including 12V supply power, see our test results blog)

The XL-Classic Solarracing Edition is specifically aimed at high efficiency endurance racing. Being a lot easier to configure, customise and very similar in efficiency to the popular Wavesculptor22, it genuinely feels like the next generation of solar racing inverter.

It is currently in use for one of the Solar racing top-teams and is being made available to the broader solar racing community. Other applications of the XL-Classic 160V are various ground vehicles and fuel pumps for liquid-fuelled rocket engines.
