About DQ Drives
We design and manufacture motor controllers, also called ESCs (electronic speed controllers) or inverters, for demanding applications.
For more than five years our technology has been used by industrial clients under various partnerships. As demand grew, we started offering our products directly, to OEMs, integrators and development teams.
How we build
IterateEvery product goes through many design iterations and rigorous testing before we release it for sale.
Test every unitEach controller we ship is tested with a real motor before quality control signs it off.
Publish the dataWe share test results openly on our blog, and detailed performance or reliability data on request.
Stay openAll our controllers run VESC®. Where an application needs more, we offer our own firmware.
Offices and labs
We work from three locations in Germany. Our labs have the equipment for prototyping, testing and series production.
AachenHeadquarters and development.
CologneTest lab and hardware design.
DarmstadtFirmware and software development, assembly and quality control.
| Measurement | Oscilloscopes with high-speed differential probes for wide-bandgap devices, thermal imaging cameras, LCR meters |
|---|---|
| Power | Many kW of DC power supplies, including high-power bidirectional units |
| Load testing | Dynamometers and propeller test benches |
| Inspection | Microscopes, end-of-line electrical tests and more |
The team
Peter HeynmöllerManaging DirectorRuns the company and navigates all regulatory hurdles. Has extensive experience in (GaN) power electronics design and a fancy degree from RWTH Aachen University.
Tobias FaschingbauerChief Technical OfficerLeads the technical direction: hardware, firmware, control algorithms and system architecture. Always finds the most brilliant engineering solution.
How our product lines came about
The full story of each line, from the first prototype to the current revision.
Compact line
Why we didn't want engineers to choose between a large, easy-to-cool unit and a small one that overheats.
Classic line
How one customer's brief for a light, affordable ESC grew into the M-, L- and XL-Classic and the M-Neo.
Rugged line
How we turned proven power stages into true VESC® controllers.
